The platform that allows users to understand their coffee and get recommendations based on their preferences

CoffeeGenie is my brainchild. Even though I'm coffee addicted now, previously it was a really hard thing to figure out the best type of coffee to purchase. But lately, this idea strikes me again when one of my friends asks about the difference between the coffee types and making. So I thought about creating a platform that recommends the coffee based on the user's favors and method of making.
Create an application to guide the user to order coffee that perfectly matches their preferences. While doing that our goal is to increase the sales of local coffee makers and promote a home brewing coffee experience.

With doubt in mind, I started doing quantitative research as a first step. Since coffee culture is so novel idea to Sri Lanka I didn't expect much of a result from the initial research. But it was a really surprising result to see how much people are attached to coffee even though it's such a new trend.

Even though my main target audience was people who make their own cup of coffee at home, I thought focusing on others also, those who purchase their coffee directly from local cafes.

Oh..Yah... This is so interesting, I just found a niche market even among the cafe drinkers (Nickname 🙂). which is the 26.9% who either don’t know to make coffee or don't have proper types of equipment.

After initial Quantitative research, I have reached a few selective participants to capture their thoughts and identify the main goals and pain points. In these interviews, I manage to gather enough pain points, to begin with.

It’s obvious that most of the users struggling to find out better coffee, and it's common among everyone either who prefer Home brewer or who prefer Caffe brewer

A good user flow can make feel great but the great flow will make you fly (Yep exactly sounds like the RedBull 😄). With that in mind I start making flow mapping from simple to advance.

Understanding the way of users think and feel via analyzing research data helps me to get rid of my own bias. And turn those feedbacks into opportunities. If I didn't go that far I would have rejected really valuable features based on my own assumptions
